Congratulations for the iniciative! I'm brazilian but living outside Brazil for over 8 years. It's great to see that the world's conscience is changing because there is not more time! Its now! We could be sitting confortably in our homes, watching tv and those reality shows because we still have planet earth. What about the next generation? And the generation after? It's a shame...We are far the worst contribuiters to the global warning! I watched a documentary that changed me and made me rethink: in life, nature, myself.... I would totaly recommend. Its called "A Inconvenient Truth". Peace within yourself , peace to your neighbor, and peace all around the world! Be the light in someone else's darkness!

While looking at the work of organizations like We the World, one can still hope for peace and justice. Being a member of a minority group, I truly believe that we all should play our individual as well as collective role to promote justice and peace as peace is impossible without justice. I truly believe that if we learn to appreciate our differences whether they are ethnic or religious we will be able to secure a peaceful world for our children. I sincerely support and endorse the efforts of ŒWe The World Œand would like to make my contribution towards this great cause. Noreen Nazir

It is comforting to read a set of goals and aspirations that a large group of world citizens find as common sense and a way of life. It comes to mind the amount of power needed to attain these goals. The word and act of power is the concerning part of the equation. May this push to attain these goals always be supervised by common sense and the need to include all citizens of the world.

We the people, who long for peace and justice, are the real custodians of the earth. Let's reclaim our right before it is too late, and invite peace with everyone we meet even those we may not like. Peace, justice and respect for all human beings. Thank you for creating another organisation for peace. We need millions of them, uniting the world in this great wave of love for peace. May our light shine in the darkest recess of this planet.

We endeavor to "wage peace" by promoting cross-cultural communications, which will build emphasis on social and environmental respect. This is rooted in the belief that within the spiritual traditions of all the global indigenous cultures lies the essential knowledge that will be the intrinsic key to effectively restoring the social and ecological balance of the planet‹ our 'Earth Mother' ‹and ensure the survival of future generations on this planet. And through the combined efforts of more organizations like ours we can create the "Critical Mass" necessary to affect the changes in consciousness needed to bring about a true "New Age" on this planet.

A process needs to be created to enable non-profit organizations such as We, the World s to allocate resources efficiently to the right people at the right time. Groups such as We, the World should invest in activities and business that can generate a continuous source of revenue to support the goals and activities of the members.

Since leaving his home has gone into foreclosure and unless we are able to come up with $60,000 to save it, it will go back to the bank while my son serves his country. Last night we used his house to hold a Peace Vigil to pray for peace and bring awareness, I still hold out hope that we can save his home and end this fighting all over the world.Marte Carlin (President, Women Against Domestic Abuse)www:wadajustice.org 920-819-0684

The "Blue Ribbon" Campaign expresses “The Lot Shall be your inheritance” and NewStart, a Network of Affordable Housing Organizations is offering a unique “No Bank Qualify Home Program.” This Blue Ribbon Campaign is to help educate the public on the benefits of working with the families that do not own a home but would like to. Though the churches we can all team up and be a part of a wealth building – homeownership Mentor/Investor program. You will be working with the families that would like to better themselves and would like to work with us, we have develop an oppertunity for you to work with them in creating a Home-Of-Their-Own. A "Blue Ribbon" signifies that it is a time for new growth and renewed action as community, to help families become home owners and prosper in their petisapation with others. We invite everyone from all walks of life to wear a blue ribbon to bring about a new understanding of, what it means to be at HOME, (Homes is a safe and affectionate envionment). Wearing a blue ribbon signifies faith in working together and for all of us to have a sustainable future, and faith in the promise made by God to Abraham, that the “the lot shall be your inheritance”. Start a local Blue Ribbon Campaign Express your support and encouragement for all families, remember what the Bible tells us, to love one another. (Love is to accept another just as they are and as they are not). Let the churches began by introducing the HOME (Home Ownership and Mortgage Eucation) Grant Program, and educate the families about home ownership. “My people die from lack of knowledge.” The Blue Ribbon Campaign is a national effort: All Faith Based charitable originations and communities like the members of NewStart wear blue ribbons. Together we share resource materials, build greater networks, and create homeownership programs, like the Rent-To-Own program of HOME. Become a Blue Ribbon Church To be a Blue Ribbon church means to share a concern over the future of families and communities, and to bring about a new understanding of, “The Lot Shall be your inheritance.” Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, teach him how to fish and he will feed his family for ever, but teach him how to be a commercial fishermen and he will feed the entire village. This is were the NewStart-HOME Program works best, instead of just owning only one home, HOME and the NewStart network can show you how you could provide10 families with a home. This will bring new light and understanding on stewardship. There are always those who are more blessed then others. "Hello From The Bottom of My Heart" This is a great endeavor and one we need to practice and participate in daily. All opportunities to teach love of everyone and reach the young and all ages early to live and think positive and therefore love positive. Love will close the jails, make schools a safe place to be and bring peace a tormented people of this world. Respect for self and others, ceases nasty talk, replace it with words of wisdom, love and peace can be accepted when we show others how to live positive and love in the same manner. Stand up in a positive manner and be heard!

The surrealists were consciousness revolutionaries - I do not idolize them, but have studied them, and at least they very energetically tried.

I am excited about these events. I would lke to be involved. I am a pianist, keyboardist, composer, educator and band leader. My band "Cafe Simpatico" has toured war torn countries as Jazz Ambassadors of the U.S. state department. Presently, my band has expanded to 18 pieces. We create quite a "Joyful Noise". We would very much like to be counted in the up coming events. I believe that we make a difference and our contribution could help to tip the balance toward peaceful solutions in our beautiful but troubled world. These are certainly critical times, but the peoples voices are our hope. We must transcend the shadows of our daily wows and believe that hope begets hope. Looking for the creative good in others... affirming it, embracing it and encouraging it. That is the mission of "Cafe Simpatico". Please let me know at the above email address if and how we can be considered to perform at events during We, The World, September 06' and beyond.

Praise the living GOD Almighty. I realy thank GOD for you . A part fom what has happened to us ,still GOD is on our side, As you," know keeping orphans and widows" is not easy at all ,they need total love, but (ROMANS 8:28)has been our strength , they need total love which can make them forget their sorrow, and make them feel at home again for the UGANDA most of the street kids we have also picked are orphans. Therefore when the wind demolished the orphanage buildings it touched both our soul and the minds of the 280 orphans who were starting to feel at home, received onother blow.I strugled too much to get a turpoline to shelter a temporaly shade for fareness of the young children. We shouldn't email this issue but the stuation of the sorrowful orphans has forced us to look for GODs solution thruogh you ,as ( MATTHEW 6:1-2) says, but the way you see a fatherless and a motherless child in a licking turpoline on top, the child has to eat, you strugle for a way out and you actualy get heartly moved with sympathy and you remember what JESUS said in(MATTHEW 25:44-45) that i was hungry and you fed me ...,so with that i was forced to write to you the centre postion. The verything hapening is as i told you,"and we stand only on prayer's" for the way out. Blessed be the LORD GOD Almighty who was and is and he is to come. Thanks '' Jonathan Muwanguzi(centre admin) HISTORY OF THE CENTRE. Banunule orphanage centre, was was established in 1974,by a now 75 year old Namukisa Mary ,after her own baby girl was murderd by a care taker who pushed a peice of wood in the childs vigina which led to her death.she Namusisi never deliver another child, but she decidede to start an orphanage centre, it endured the troubled days of uganda's wars and others,But due to the AIDs pandemic, and current war in the nothern uganda, the centre reached to 280 children,But unfortunately the wind swept down the buildings which were hosting the orphanage creating a wosrt area to these orphans, including having classes under the tree shade, suffering with the rain&sunshine,( since in uganda we have no seasons), we therefore appeal to the good hearted, & kind people of GOD who can offer to these orphans, it needs only to raise again the deteriorating orphans life and future, we are ready to establish a stable block to host this centre and also to welcome you have a vist to your good work. Thanks to get in touch with us ,to save these homelesss and fatherless children,. May GOD who blesses secret works, bless you Abundantly for your help in such a terrible stuation, emen. Thanks, jonathan muwanguzi(centre admin) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We don't have a URL yet, but a dream to build earthships. Please go to earthship.com The time is now for this concept in building. Need ideas, investors, support. If I elaborate on all the advantages it takes time. But I will say they can withstand 150MPH winds, can grow food all year round, compost toilets no waste less water, recycle landfill tires and much more. We have 3tire stores willing to deliver tires to a site locally. The earthship.com also has reto-fit kits that make existing houses energy efficient. We have a dream to bring these resources together to help with the housing crises. People can be self sufficient in their homes, a key to ending poverty in our times.                                HOPE FOR THE FUTURE               By John McConnell - 91 year old founder of Earth Day Is there hope for the future of life on Planet Earth?                                   "Star of Hope Satellite"  When it comes to the big questions of God's existence and what happens after we die, we are faced with inexplicable mystery.  But for the here and now, I find that honest love (creative altruism) benefits people and planet and can continue the human adventure -- so that the next generation may continue to explore "What's life all about?” At the same time we see in the chaos of the Cosmos the miracle of beauty and love.  The greatest example of this is the life of Jesus.    His amazing life inspired wonderful music -- and songs, like "Amazing Grace." The greatest mystery to me is how President Bush and other Christian leaders can tell about how they experienced the love of Christ when they were converted and then devote billions of dollars to diabolical weapons and military programs, designed to make skeletons of their enemies, when the great Christian leaders of the past have demonstrated how to make your enemies your friends. With love and faith there can be non-violent resolution of conflict.  History shows this is true.  I have proven it true in my life and actions.                                     OCTOBER 4 GLOBAL OPPORTUNITY                     The best way to peaceful progress on Planet Earth. In 1957 I obtained global attention for an editorial in my weekly North Carolina "Toe Valley View" newspaper.  It urged that we launch a Satellite that would have a bright flashing light that would appear every night and be seen as a bright Star of Hope for all humanity. Sputnik, the first Satellite, had just been launched on October 4th.  None of the media seemed to note that this was the "Feast Day of St. Francis."  And launched by the then Godless USSR!  (The person who chose the date must have been a secret Christian.) My own study and prayer life led to the conviction that we needed a common purpose that would appeal to people of all creeds and cultures - and a way to get attention for it.  We needed something that would end  history's terrible record of war and injustice. When we set out to explore Space, we discovered Earth.  Now we know we are one human family and have only one Earth. But our addiction to war and our greed has almost ruined planet Earth and the future of its people.  At the same time there is a growing recognition that we must change - - if we want to continue the human adventure. OCTOBER 4 SOLUTION   One of the Space Programs should plan now to launch a Star of Hope Satellite on October 4, 2007.  This will be the 50th anniversary of our venture into Space.   This can obtain global attention for the wonderful way to global peace that St. Francis provided: "Lord, Make me an instrument of thy peace...". ********************************************************************************************                                          STAR OF HOPE BOOK      The Life and Times of John McConnell, founder of Earth Day,                 by Robert Weir, can be ordered directly from SWAN BOOKS  for the special price of $20 -- including postage.         Please send your check to                                                                                      SWAN BOOKS,                                                        Box 953,                                           Pine Plains, NY 12567     Orders are also accepted by e-mail -  seythal @ aol.com (seythal@aol.com)                         or FAX (518/398-6012)                              STAR OF HOPE,  The Life and Times                       of John McConnell with a forward by                       George Gallup, Jr.  First edition                       338 pages and 62 illustrations. Hello I am involved in a project.. mission for Unity and Peace. I am presenting the world with a new Universal World Flag for Unity and Peace. The PURPOSE behind this flag is to unite all beings, together with Our first common bond,, which is that we are All beings. Also to GO BEYOND, COLOR, PREJUDICE, INJUSTICE and INHUMANITY to all BEINGS. You may view the flag and Purpose at: WWW.HumanBeingFlag.com A couple news papers have done an article on the flag,, however I would like to correct a couple misunderstandings. 1st: They reported that I had said: I was very spritual. What I had said was: ( the flag to me is very spiritual, and that I could only hope to grow more spiritual). 2nd: They said ( his flag) when I had said: ( OUR FLAG). Just thought that maybe you would be interested in doing a story. I am not doing this for profit,, I am doing this for the PURPOSE. All money received from the flags goes to presenting and promoting the PURPOSE. David Moore 440 Main str. Spruce Grove Alberta 780-962-0749 David Moore

Subject: Letter of introduction of CTFB Dear Sir As we all know children’s lives in Bangladesh are affected by homelessness, violence, and poverty. We often tend to forget that children are neither the property of their parents nor are they helpless objects of charity. They are human beings and are the subject of their own rights. The electronic media can be a vital organ to uphold children’s rights and become a source of children’s entertainment and knowledge. With this perspective Children’s Television Foundation of Bangladesh (CTFB), a non-profit foundation, has been established which will work for the children’s meaningful participation in the production of children’s programs in the television arena to advocate children’s voice in Bangladesh. CTFB will focus to initiate the development of innovative programs, and concepts; provide quality training to writers, directors and producers for script, program, and series development; undertake production oriented research and evaluation; organize a children’s television summit/conference in Bangladesh in every two years; and introduce an award to encourage quality children’s productions. CTFB aims to connect the children of the world to understand the diversified culture, society and economy that can break the artificial barriers creating tension and conflict amongst some nations. CTFB will play the mediator to carry the voice, views, and news of the children so that their rights, opinion, and development are considered by the authority in implementing any decisions and policies regarding children. CTFB hopes that this platform will allow the children of Bangladesh to utilize their latent talent and provide the children entertainment, education and knowledge in near future. Your kind cooperation is highly solicited in this regard. Yours sincerely, _______________ Fahmidul Islam Secretary General Children’s Television Foundation Of Bangladesh (CTFB) Address : 32 Mirpur Road (flt #A3), Dhanmondi, Dhaka Phone : 01711596426 Email : shantonu@ctfbd.org Web : www.ctfbd.org

Are times all calling for a collective action…….and the following project just may be the turning of the tide. Please read through this visionary, co-creative project. Global Meditation to heal the Earth www.firethegrid.com The Earth needs our help! She is going through some chaotic transitional pains, and She needs our energy. Humans from all around the World, from every corner of the Globe are coming together simultaneously on July 17, 2007 11:11 Greenwich Mean time to fire the energy grid of the Earth. Mass citizens are doing this in order to give our Planet the surge of energy She needs to survive these chaotic times, and come through them resurrected anew, with a willingness to bring about the coming days of peace. As you probably know, The Earth is being harmed by its residents. It won’t be able to stand the poisons that are constantly entering Her environment for much longer unless we help her. Beings of Light, who truly care for this planet, have drawn up a plan for us humans to follow. So what is the plan? The time has been set for July 17, 2007 at 11:11 Greenwich Mean Time, in which volunteers are to simply sit down and mediate, pray, visualize, (whatever you do) for one hour. It is only one hour out of your entire life. During this time, our combined energies will work to direct energy to the Earth and to each other. I ask you to choose the way in which you deliver your intention. For those of you that pray, then pray for the hour asking for the faith and power to accomplish this tremendous task. Those of you who meditate, meditate and see the intention of your thoughts swirling deep inside our Earth delivering the love and healing. Those of you who have no ritual may simply develop one that works for you. If you sit and repeat a phrase of your intention such as “I offer you my energy to heal this world and its people” Any positive words of hope, love, and desire for change will manifest these thoughts as our new reality. If possible, gather with others during this hour. I have found that the intensity of my meditations heightens when I am sharing the experience with other people. You may be wondering if that will really heal the Earth. The answer is yes. We tend to underestimate the power of creation that we humans have been blessed with. We especially tend to underestimate are co-creative power we have as an entire race. This planned sitting of the people of Earth will demonstrate the love and faith we feel for the goodness of our world and its inhabitants. We are the catalyst to the healing of the Earth. A true believer has the power of ten fold. So if you only think you may believe, know that the faith of the others will boost your own faith and the power will be intensified. That is why we must all sit at the same time. We will feed each others power, strengthening the force of delivery and the compounding the energy we send to the core of our home. Each and every one of us is important alone, but together we are a very powerful source of creative energy. Remember we are all a piece of God, and that energy of creation lives in all of us. Please join us. We are the hope. www.firethegrid.com

I proudly add my name to those who have gone before, and if I should be the tipping point I would be humbly honored. I am so enthused that in this time there are so many who are speaking out of our interconnectedness and many voices are from those who have sat by feeling they were only one and could not affect change. Now we know different. On to World Peace and Oneness!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wonderful idea, perfect companion to conscientious objection to war and killing and the movement to expose, and then counter, the fascist agenda, which, by the way, promotes the exact opposite of interdependence. Gary G. Kohls, MD PS: See the conscientious objector manifesto below: We Will Not Kill So, for the record, here is what conscientious objectors object to: We object to killing. We object to killing in the name of capitalism. We object to killing in the name of communism. And we object to killing in the name of religion. We object to being forced to register for war and killing. We object to being forced to participate in the preparations for war and killing. We object to killing innocent civilians. We object to killing soldiers. We object to nuclear weapons for killing. And we object to conventional weapons for killing. If war comes, many of us will perform peaceful alternative service. And many of us will go to jail rather than compromise deeply held beliefs. But we will not fight, Because we will not kill.

If darkness falls and blinds your eyes, have faith for the morning; the sun will rise. Keep on keeping on, don't give in to despair. To transcend war, we must choose to dare. The Matrix of strife feeds from conflicts that escalate. Its hold strengthens when fear and hate become our fate. Awaken to the freedom of love and the enduring dream of peace. Without these redemptive means, our suffering will never cease. Just as muck and filth are used by a Lotus to bloom, together we can find power to transform the garbage within and around us into sweet smelling perfume.

Dear Lightworkers, Bless your projects!! I have a similar path in my life, perhaps we should work together. Dosen't the declaration of interdependence state this? Summary of the project Communication and collaboration between networks Each major Peace and Global aid Organization has some sort of network on the internet that acts like a promoter, and co-creator for there work. Yet currently these many good-work organizations have no solid way to communicate easily across networks. We feel that there is currently a major gap between these many organizations that share like-minded purposes. We believe the internet, the very thing that gives these movements and projects a voice to the masses of the world, can be the tool that brings them together. Because of the technology of the modern age, the insight has dawned on many that movements for peace and global aid no longer have to be separate from one another. Instead these movements can help each other achieve there personal and collective goals. We intend to build a website is to be a place where all humanity can come together to make there visions of peace and global aid actual. From far distances, movements can come together with the intent of co-creation, building relationships that can give there causes the extra force it needs. C.A.M is intended to be a pioneering collaborative system that is the creation of the participating members just as much as it is the creation of C.A.M. Because of the participation each area of the network gradually grows over time into an information and mutual benefit resource center created by and for its users. Other then providing a space where relationships can be made, C.A.M does not do anything. The participants in this collaborative community are the ones who give this network substance. C.A.M provides the structure while all other participants are the ones who are actually building this community. We notice the potential these entities have in working together, yet are primary focus is to help form a durable community based on inclusion and trust. C.A.M will have absolutely no authority over any of its members. It is a communication system with the purpose of supporting the many organization, groups, movements, businesses and individuals who are already doing good things in the world, to be able to do them easier and better. We do not intend to create one super-organization of peace and global aid organizations and movements. Instead we strongly encourage and promote there separate existence, yet feel they have just to much in common for there not to be a place where they can come together in communication and collaborative action.

I was introduced to the Interntional Day of Peace by a man named Danny Garcia, who walked around the world during the past 10 years in the name of world peace and children's rights. He brought together a talented group of people who created a proposal for a concert to be held in conjunction with the International Day of Peace. Although Danny had to step down from the project due to personal reasons, he asked us to carry out his dream so we are going forward with the project. The concert this September will be smaller than what Danny proposed; however, we intend to do the mega-concert in September 2007. We are currently negotiating with Rick Ulfick of We the World and discussing our options and a possible fiscal sponsorship with them.

---Ranked Ballot, “RB”, each voter ranking all candidates in order of preference, & only Ranked Ballot, (plus “Organized Communications”) will give us: Instant GLOBAL True Democracy A REAL Solution to Terror A Perfect Marriage of Freedom & Justice, Tradition & Modernity The Most Free Market, Cooperation AND Community Possible All the Payback, Catch-up & Makeup One Could Wish Ecological Politics & Political Ecology You Name It ---Because it always elects the candidate most exactly in the middle of all voting, Ranked Ballot is "top-dead-center-counter-extremist" & thus more anti-terrorist than all the recent retrenchments combined. While it would be equally useful for all else, RB’s real power is perhaps most clearly shown in the case of potential inter-tribal war, as in Iraq. Had they not chosen to require a 2/3 vote for their Prime Minister, “The Week”, 022406, a “variant” of RB, Parliament might have lacked stability, & the world would have been in danger of going to war over some oil well, or multi-ethnic city. RB would be equally useful for all other parliamentary &/or presidential systems, cooperatives, collective leaderships, tribal groupings, religious confessions, political parties & associations as well. ---Because it gives the minorities a real say in which majority member gets chosen, RB is the only thing that will lead them to support of any plan more than inadequate confederation. ---Because it gives all combinations of programs, not just parties, an equal chance, RB is the only thing that's truly just. ---Because it provides real-time alternatives to all proposals, from wherever: market, coop or social, RB has brakes, reverse, 3D hyper-drive & goes sideways. It will result in “phantasmagoric subtlefaction”. Both more Liberty and Justice can be found in RB than in any ideology. Help put this idea, in time (before “clockwork orange”, “1984”, cosmic collision “category seven”, economic collapse or literalist contratemps) to as many as possible. The $15,000 cost of a single full-page ad in USA Today, enough to put RB to virtually everyone involved on earth, would be repaid in a year & a half at the pre-9/11 US annual defense spending of $10,000 per family. ---We imagine running on the single issue of RB, allowing a citizens' advisory board based on”Organized Communications" ("OC", small randomly assigned discussion groups electing reps to higher & higher levels by means of RB til one small group, exactly in the middle, remains) to guide us in the rest. You do the same, from the most local on up. Ten to the power of ten: ten levels of random groups of ten, would be sufficient to organize & unite all mankind. The "additive" form of RB, is to count first choices & then, if noone has 50 %, to add in the next choices, & so on, until someone finally does. RB is the sole unchangeable plank & bylaw of the Preferential (what RB’s called in Robert’s Rules of Order) Ballot Party, the only practicable third party. (The more skewed (less top dead center) “eliminative”, & more commonly espoused, form of RB, is called “IRV” (Instant Runoff Voting.) ---While the Iraqis saw fit to include the need of an (elitist minimalist) 2/3 vote in the new Iraqi constitution for PM, neither the Reps nor Dems spoke out for a super majority during the recent Supreme Court confirmations. Good enough for emergency situations, Australia, New Zealand, Kerala India, Iraq, London, Ireland, Cambridge Mass, Vermont, Ferndale Mich (?), Frisco, Berkeley, the House Reps for selecting the majority leader, the Utah Republican Party for nominations, & both the Greens & Libertarians, but not good enough for the common man? Hi, I want to say that I'm aware of people with fuelless, clean energy and propulsion systems, as well as those for cheap desalination of seawater, and eco-friendly building methods. Isn't it time for global networking of these clean systems to end thirst, famine, and homelessness? We have the means to answer problems causing area, and global conflicts, including mindless invasions, and occupations, of sovereign nations in vain efforts to control finite resources, why don't we use them? Global Peace is doable, if we work toge- ther for the benefit of all Life on Earth.

STAR OF WONDER! Is there hope for the future?  The horrible events on our planet deepen our awareness of evil.  We have a wonderful planet.  But hate, fear, greed, lust and war continue in many parts of the world to make life on our planet a dismal night of despair. However, at Christmas attention for the Star of Bethlehem brings warm feelings of cheer.  On the days just before Christmas, wherever you go, you find people more friendly and cheerful.  Many radio and TV programs feature beautiful Christmas Carols. The record of history clearly shows that the power of compassion, justice and freedom in the last 2000 years was most inspired by the amazing story of Jesus -- who he was and what he said and did. While other religions and beliefs have also fostered the ways of peace, I have found in Jesus my guiding star.  In my case, the words and deeds of Jesus inspired the idea of Earth Day and its Earth Trustee ideas that foster peace, justice and the care of Earth. This can provide a better future for the human family. Differences and difficulties abound.  But the blacker the night, the brighter the star.  Its darkest before dawn and day will soon come. Star of wonder, star of light, Star with royal beauty bright, Westward leading, still proceeding, Guide us to thy perfect light.                                          STAR OF HOPE Following is what I wrote right after the launch on October 4, 1957 of Sputnik -- the first satellite in Space. This was the editorial in my weekly newspaper,  The Toe Valley View -- published in Bakersville, N. C.  (The editorial  was edited by our wonderful Editor, Louise Toness.) Sputnik was the name of the Russian satellite that began the Space Program. My editorial was picked up by the wire services and obtained global attention:                                               THE TOE VALLEY VIEW                                             Bakersville, North Carolina                                                       October 31, 1957 Make Our Satellite A Symbol Of Hope! Usually in these editorial columns we stick pretty closely to local matters. But some issues arising outside our own locality become so universal in importance that they are "local" for everyone in the world. Of course we are referring now to earth satellites and man’s venture into the conquest of Space. What was science fiction only yesterday has become visible – audible – fact today. "After a lifetime of some 250,000 years on earth ...man has conquered earth gravity and stands poised on the era of universal exploration." writes Norman Cousins in a penetrating editorial in "The Saturday Review" for Oct. 19, called "Sense and Satellites." But, he points out, the event brings "no universal feeling of release or jubilation," overcast as it is by the chill of a cold war and the threat of extinction by intercontinental missiles utilizing the same principles used in launching the satellite. The answer, Cousins says, is "not to conjure up more effective ways of destroying the world." (How trivial is the whole argument of who or what is to blame for the Russians’ getting ahead of us in the armed missiles race – when we consider that the race itself can lead only to destruction!) "The principal need," insists the Saturday Review editor, "is to tap our intelligence and moral imagination to the fullest in creating a working design for a better tomorrow in which all the world’s people can share. …A great idea looking towards the development of a world community will circle the globe more rapidly than the fastest satellite. It will give us access to the majority of the world’s peoples – on whom security really depends. It will also help to make life bearable on this planet before we take off for other ones." Now is the moment when "Peace On Earth" might have its best opportunity for realization.  When men work together for some great goal they share, the forces that make for peace and understanding have the best chance to operate.  And a greater goal could scarcely be dreamed of than the exploration of the Universe, in man’s eternal search to find and understand his place in the Universe. What will be the effect upon the world when our own satellite is launched?  Will it turn the world toward peace and unity, or away?  We need some symbol of peace, to give the world a promise that conquest of space will be for good and not for evil. To create such a symbol would require no new discoveries.  The means are already at hand to make the appearance of our satellite as startling an event as the appearance of Sputnik, but startling in a different way.  Could not the small satellite to be launched in December according to present plans appear as a brightly shining Star of Hope?  The mechanics of the thing should not be too difficult. The body of the satellite could be covered with some highly reflective material such as aluminum foil. More difficult would be the task of convincing the peoples of the earth that this was not just a propaganda device. Indeed, we would need to make sure ourselves, as a nation, that it was not! The symbol would need to be accompanied by sincere words and convincing deeds in the direction of peace and world cooperation. It is true that certain segments of humanity do not believe in the Event symbolized by the star of Christmas.   But there is no religion or no nation on earth (considering people, not governments) that does not respond with hope and longing to the angel’s song of Peace on Earth, Good Will to Men. ******************************************************************** ************ The above 1957 editorial was indpired by the Star of Bethlehem.  I urge Space Program People to announce that they will launch a Star of Hope Satellite on October 4, 2007.  This will be the 50th Anniversary of Sputnik.   Given suitable attention, the story would unite the peacemakers of our planet and aid their efforts.  It would get attention and wake up the mighty rulers of the United States and other countries.  It would help them see and support nonviolent solutions. We will have global peace when we devote our money and amazing technology to spread the proven power of faith and love demonstrated by Jesus. Let's pray for a mighty spiritual awakening - and then put feet to our prayers.  This will result in our wealth and actions fostering peaceful progress on our amazing planet. October  4 is St. Francis Day    Prayer of St. Francis Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace, Where there is hatred, let me sow love, Where there is injury, pardon, Where there is despair, hope, Where there is darkness, light, Where there is sadness, joy. O divine master, grant that I may not So much seek to be consoled, as to console, To be understood, as to understand, To be loved, as to love, For it is in giving that we receive, It is in pardoning that we are pardoned, And it is dying that we are born to eternal life. ***************************************************** Let there be peace on Earth. and let it begin with all of us.  May the spirit of peace found in Christmas bless you and your loved ones.    John and Anna McConnell 4924 E.   Minute For Peace Day -- December 22, 2005 WORLD PEACE NOW      By John McConnell             Now is humanity's greatest opportunity.  The circumstances are right for an all-out World Peace Blitz that will end the human family's long history of war and violence -- by eliminating its causes.  We have an amazing planet with a skin of life that can provide a good life for everyone.  Our problem is not the nature of Planet Earth, but the nature of its human inhabitants. Throughout history most of its leaders have been addicted to war, greed and lust for power. Instead of making skeletons of our enemies, now we can make them our friends. Christmas is now approaching.  We are reminded of the Angels that announced the birth of Jesus.  "Hark, the herald Angels sing...Peace on Earth, goodwill to men" The Babe of Bethlehem became the light that turned darkness into day.  This light turned hate into love and inspired those who saw it to become peacemakers.  Ever since then those who saw the light sought to foster peace in their words and actions. Outstanding Christian examples were St. Francis, William Penn, and Martin Luther King. Around the world there are hundreds of groups with different creeds and cultures who have one thing in common:  They are seeking to know and practice the ways of peace.  They differ in many of their views, but share one goal -- to be peacemakers.  Jesus said, "Blessed are the peacemakers." The greatest success of war-makers comes when they put aside their differences and make a united effort to kill their enemies.  It is time for the peacemakers of the world to unite their efforts for peace, justice and a sustainable future.  This can be aided by using the name "Earth Trustee" for these efforts and promoting the celebration of Earth Day on the March Equinox.  Together we can end Earth's long history of settling differences by hating and killing our enemies.  Together, we can prove the power of faith and love to make our enemies our friends. Let every church, synagogue and mosque now join our common cause -- World Peace Now! Let newspapers, TV Programs, Mayors and Heads of State Proclaim World Peace Now! The Franciscans, Quakers and many other institutions promoting nonviolence can now maximize their efforts by using Prayer -- the mightiest force in the world, and then proving its power by their actions to turn conflicts into cooperation. There must be No More Wars.  The human family has seen the light -- and will act now with all their might. "Let their be Peace on Earth -- And let it begin with me." ********************************** UNITING EFFORTS FOR PEACE I have been repeatedly asked, "How can the many who seek peace, justice and a sustainable future through understanding and good will come together and have a greater impact that those who use the power of money and military might to achieve their ends? America and other leading governments devote most of their wealth to military programs.  They spend billions for bombs and pennies for peace.   Were the money spent on our evil weapons to kill people spent on promoting global understanding, peaceful resolution of conflict -- and on eliminating the causes of violence and hate, there would be no more wars. Scattered around the world are wonderful programs for peaceful resolution of conflict. (Franciscans, churches, service clubs, Fellowship Of Reconciliation, World Neighbors, etc, etc,)  But most people do not appreciate this because mass media does not feature actions for peaceful progress.  Media is the source of most public opinion and they make more money by features and headlines for violence and conflict.  Public opinion is media made -- actions good or bad begin in the mind.  Whether intentional or not, the fact is that media accents the negative and gives more attention to hate, fear, greed and lust than to the many actions of understaning and good will.  As a result major nations are addicted to war. The only way to avoid global catastrophe is for all who support the ways of peace to now come together in a moral equivalent of war. United, we can change the global war mentality to a global state of mind dedicated to  positive actions for peaceful resolution of conflict. Our problem is the "Dealers in Death" -- the corporate and White House leaders -- who make billions from the production of weapons.  Their lust for money and power blinds them to peaceful policies that would destroy the causes of violence.  Their only way is to "kill the killers." If President Bush were a follower of Jesus, whom he claims to serve, he would know that the love for your enemy that Jesus taught will bring understanding of the cause of hate, fear and violence and eliminate its source. I invite people of faith to spread the word that war is evil, that you don't overcome evil with evil.  Killing is not the right way to stop killing. There are cases in history where the most evil people have been converted.  It was a converted slave trader who wrote "Amazing Grace."  We should act immediately, but at the same time pray with faith and love for the conversion of Bush and Ben Laden.  We need a miracle and that would certainly be a miracle.  Instead of making skeletons of their enemies, they would make their enemies their friends. Press, Radio, TV and Internet play a vital role. Actions, good or bad, begin in the mind.  Those able to command media attention have a special obligation to speak out about the crisis and its obvious solution -- replace violence with attitudes and actions that foster understanding and good will. ALL world leaders should act now, urging that everyone oppose violence with nonviolence -- Martin Luther King's effective solution.  Leaders in other areas of public trust should do the same. Those who believe in the power of prayer can prove the power of their faith by their Earth Trustee actions -- vigorous efforts for peace, justice and a sustainable future..  When people think and act as Earth Trustees they will show a reverence for life -- and for holy places. Earth Day helped move toward conciliation when it had Shimon Perez of Israel ring the United Nations Peace Bell -- and persuaded Yaser Arafat of Palestine to add his name to the Earth Day Proclamation.  Jerusalem is a holy place to Christian, Muslim and Jew and its role in history is important to people of every religion.  Learn from history. Then you will better know how to choose the good and reject the evil. Earth Day and its Earth Trustee agenda, puts The Golden Rule to work -- do unto others as you would have them do unto you.  Here is a chance for people of all religions to show their ethical values by being Earth Trustees and practicing reverence for life in word and deed. Mass media has a sacred obligation as the eyes and ears of the public to: -- Feature solutions as well as problems -- Headline cases of peaceful progress in the human adventure that replace hate, fear, greed and lust. -- Give recognition and attention to people and projects that eliminate pollution and poverty and foster peace, justice and the care of Earth. Every radio and TV station should program a daily "Minute for Peace" - or "Earth Minute."  A voice would state, "In this minute for peace let us join our hearts and minds, each in our own way, with faith and commitment to peaceful actions today and every day."  This would be followed by appropriate music or sounds of nature. In 1963 when President Kennedy was killed we ended the period of mourning for him on December 22 with a "Minute For Peace" which was broadcast globally.  It carried the voice of Kennedy with words he had spoken the year before: "Never have the nations of the world had so much to lose, or so much to gain.  Together we can save our planet, or together perish in its flames.  Save it we can, and save it we will." "Minute for Peace" was later broadcast and led in 1966 to ending the war between India and Pakistan. On Earth Day at the United Nations there is a global "Minute for Peace," signaled by the ringing of the Peace Bell at the moment Spring begins. With the media's cooperation, each year's Earth Day -- on nature's historic annual event, the March Equinox, will provide a great global holiday with world wide participation by people of every creed and culture.  This will inspire actions for Earth's rejuvenation -- with peace, justice and prosperity for all. Spread the word.  We can change this global crisis into a new beginning for Planet Earth. John McConnell 4924 E. Kentucky Circle Denver, CO 80246 Phone: 303/758-7687         www.earthsite.org

One Humanity: One Goal John McConnell - Founder of Earth Day Speaks for Earth The Way to a Peaceful, Prosperous Future. The reason for poverty, pollution and war is that civilization lacks an adequate, agreed upon, well defined goal. As a result adversaries lack a suitable basis for peaceful resolutions of conflict. Discussions too often focuses on differences, neglecting areas of honest accord. Peace efforts then stall in spite of international laws and United Nations agreements and resolutions. We need a global goal with strong global appeal. EARTH TRUSTEE SOLUTION The needed goal that all can accept is: THE REJUVENATION OF OUR PLANET WITH FAIR BENEFITS FOR EVERYONE; a change of attitude and conduct world-wide from fear and despair to hope and action by persuading every concerned individual to act, in their own way, as a responsible trustee of Earth -- seeking peace, justice, and a sustainable future. This can be accomplished by a moral equivalent of war, a Peace Blitz for a Better World. To succeed, leaders and laymen are asked to avoid the historic mistakes of humanity's past. We need a vision of the future that will provide a world without war, the end of poverty, a stake in Earth's natural bounty by everyone, including the disinherited poor, the realization of human potential -- physical, mental, spiritual -- in a world of freedom and order. To achieve this we should look below the surface at the root causes of civilization's sickness. In the past individuals identified with and were most loyal to their clan, nation, religion or business. The narrow view of competing groups often led to conflict and sometimes war. Today, through the eyes of our astronauts and cosmonauts we have stepped back and viewed our planet from afar with new eyes. We are aware that one fragile planet is our home, the home of one human family. Our future requires a common purpose. Now we have a chance to see in our diversity a unity which will enable us to fairly adjust our differences with new solutions -- unseen in the past. In all decisions we must now consider how they affect the nurture and protection of Earth and the rights of individuals to the use of our planet. Seeing the whole picture will help us make the right choices. For example: A major global trouble spot has been the Mid-East land hallowed by Christian, Jewish and Muslim history. Historic boundaries of nations, claims and counter claims, are now transcended by a larger more fundamental claim: the claim of every person to his or her inheritance -- a fair stake in the land and natural bounty of their planet. When we place loyalty to planet and respect for the planetary rights of all people above loyalty to nation, new possibilities quickly appear. What a great thing it would be to see Jewish, Christian and Muslim Centers in Jerusalem seeking homesteads for homeless constituents in friendly communities throughout the Mid-East. Another basic mistake in history is the development and establishment of unfair, inefficient systems of money and credit. We have a planet with assets in the trillions of dollars -- much of it in developing countries. Once we see that money is not wealth -- wealth is land, raw materials, technology, factories, people with skills, etc. -- we might avoid the folly of war prosperity, followed by peace depression -- with more money for money manipulators than producers and workers. By a change in monetary policies to fair, free credit -- based on adequate assets, and by making money an honest medium of exchange backed by assets and available in the measure needed for stable exchange of goods and services, we could soon bring prosperity to our whole planet. To take advantage of the incredible opportunities we now have - end of the cold war, amazing new technology and communications, a vital necessity is to tap the spiritual and emotional resources of our religious faith ... in ways that will not compromise our separate creeds and beliefs. Love of God, love of people, love of Earth, honesty, fairness and truth are to be found in every major religion. I may totally reject the creeds of other religions where they relate to a future life and at the same time approve their actions that heal and help people and planet. A deeply held shared goal aids communication and promotes more openness to each others point of view -- often resulting in a basic unity that helps resolve many differences, with accommodation or separation where needed. Love of God means love of neighbor and nature. Once the primary universal goal of Earth Trusteeship is established and affirmed by leaders and world public opinion, controversy will more constructively sort out differences and areas of agreement. This will increase understanding and bring better definitions of issues -- how they relate, provide direction, or help achieve global goals. Then, with the aid of an enlightened, responsible mass media, world public opinion, a powerful force, will promote good will, peace, justice and Earth's rejuvenation. Now is the time to mobilize our faith and our institutions in a Campaign for Earth. Now is the time, especially, for a new sense of purpose and responsibility by public media. Let them sponsor a Media Blitz for Earth's rejuvenation, with features and headlines for the many solutions that are working and need attention. EARTH MINUTES To aid inner commitment and inspire practical actions we are urging all radio and TV stations worldwide to program daily Earth Minutes at 0300, 1100, and 1900 GMT (Convert to local time in each time zone). These minutes without words will have locally produced music, views of Earth from Space, nature, children. When you hear Earth Minute announced you can link your thought, your prayer, with others all over the world. At other times reports and features will be about Earth care solutions, planned or in progress. This can provide a new sense of Earth Trustee identity that will tap the best of our personal religious convictions, diminish fear, hate, greed and lust and assure an era of peaceful progress in this new millennium. We ask radio, TV stations and newspapers to start an Earth Trustee Media Blitz. We have the raw materials, the technology, instant global communications -- and there are people ready and willing around the world. All that is needed is to get their attention. The whole picture here presented can then bring the needed Earth Trustee choices in words and actions -- and peaceful progress will prevail. 888

Peace comes from the individual, not from putting the responsibility on goverments and groups. This is the challenge, to live a peaceful life whilst all the pressures of our world bare down. By making the decision to live a peaceful life we are the change, we we make it happen now. There is no need to wait for the day, make it this day.

I am a proud Rainbow Family Brother who takes to heart the teaching of the Rainbow Family regarding our place on the earth, and our stewardship of all living things. All things belong to the creator, and are soverign. We do not own our children, but they are placed in our care, until the time that we cannot care for them. This goes for all things. For the elderly, for all animals (not just pets, or creatures of the wild, but very much for the poor food animals, being treated like mere objects) This also goes for the very air we breathe, and soil we walk upon, for the water that cleanses and nourishes, and refreshes us...we must become true stewards of all that is, and if or when we can no longer be Gods eyes, ears, hands, and heart, then we must yield the blessed job over to one who can be those things. Hi, I wish to join your efforts to improve our living world and to restore Her to the Eden She was always meant to be. -- My group has access to proven systems to extract fresh- water from seawater, as well as atmospheric moisture; pro- vide fuelless power production and propulsion; 'grow' com- ponents for pre-fab and modular buildings in seawater via ElectroAccretion; and much more we wish to share with all People, and Nations. -- It is time for these advanced systems to be brought forward and adopted by every nation. --- My project isn't simply an organic farm, but it is also a TechnoEcoVillage to showcase, as well as develop, clean technologies, and to educate people on the reality of these systems. By building a global network of linked WTFs we will improve the global food supply with diversified plantings of many species of plants valued for food, fiber, and construc- tion material. ---- Please consider working with me, and my group of inventors, engineers, designers, and permaculture experts, thanks.
